Shops And Homes Plan For Former Pub

Residents meet to discuss scheme

Residents objecting to plans for a development of flats and shops on the site of a Wimbledon Chase pub are holding a meeting on Thursday (October 13).

Earlier this year developers displayed their plans for the Emma Hamilton pub site (left) on Kingston Road during a public exhibition.

Stadium Capital Holdings have yet to submit their plans to Merton Borough Council, but it is understood an application could soon be lodged.

The plans (pictured below) are thought to have had some minor modifications, but have not changed substantially since they were shown at March's public exhibition.

The plans then on display included 56 one, two and three-bedroom flats, with some affordable housing, and up to four shop units.

But residents are worried the effect the new shops and flats would have on parking and are also concerned about the overall look of the scheme.

The new Wimbledon Chase Residents' Assocation is organising a public meeting to discuss the plans at Merton Park Baptist Church on the corner of Bushey Road and Botsford Road. It takes place at 8pm on Thursday (October 13).
