Hand Car Wash Scheme For Former Pub

Permission granted for Emma Hamilton car park

The car park of a landmark Wimbledon Chase has been turned into a temporary hand car wash.

The Kingston Road pub (left) closed down in 2010 and plans for the site have included a development of shops and flats, and an alternative plan for a community pub.

Merton council has recently given planning permission for the car park to be used as a temporary car wash, and one of the concrete bollards blocking access has been removed.

Conditions for the car wash are: The land must be restored to its former condition on or before May 27, 2012; and operate only between the hours of 8am to 6pm Monday to Saturday and between 10am and 4pm on Sundays and Bank Holidays.

Dundonald Liberal Democrats were not happy about the consultation process over the car wash plans. They were told that although 50 letters were sent to residents in Botsford Road, Mawson Close and Kingston Road, there was no site notice displayed and there were no letters to people living in roads north of Kingston Road.
