Wimbledon Property Sales - August 2013
Month sees very high number of transactions
August was an exceptionally busy month for the local property market with 149 homes changing hands in the SW19 post code area.
The average price of a sale reported to the Land Registry during the month was £623,654 which is up on preceeding months (adjusted for exceptionally large transactions) but still off all-time highs.
Of the homes sold during the month 17 went for over one million pounds and the most expensive of these was a house on Murray Road which cost its new owners £3,810,000.
The August data from Land Registry's House Price Index shows an annual price increase of 7.1% in London to £389,066. Nationally there was a 1.3% increase which takes the average property value in England and Wales to £164,654. Repossession volumes decreased by 21 per cent in June 2013 to 1,131 compared with 1,423 in June 2012.
The most up-to-date figures available show that during June 2013, the number of completed house sales in England and Wales increased by 1.0% to 60,168 compared with 59,854 in June 2012. The number of properties sold in England and Wales for over £1 million in June 2013 increased by 16% to 788 from 679 in June 2012.
