Average price in SW19 moves back above £600,000 mark
Property prices in the SW19 post code area appear to be trading at close to all time highs according to the latest official figures.
Sales in the Wimbledon area reported to the Land Registry since the end of September 2012 have averaged £608,006 which, if sustained, would represent a peak for local prices.
151 transactions took place during the period of which 16 were over the one million pound mark the most most expensive of which was on Marryat Road which sold for £7,500,000 to become the seventh most expensive property in the area.
The October data from Land Registry's flagship House Price Index shows an annual price increase of 1.1 per cent which takes the average property value in England and Wales to £161,605. This is marginally up on the previous month. London continues to be the area of the country with the fastest rising prices up by 7.0 per cent over the last year.
The most up-to-date figures available show that during August 2012, the number of completed house sales in England and Wales decreased by 3 per cent to 62,291 compared with 64,417 in August 2011.
The number of properties sold in England and Wales for over £1 million in August 2012 increased by 12 per cent to 843 from 753 in August 2011.
