Wimbledon Property Sales - June 2012
Pause in buying of top end homes leads to fall in price average
In June 2012, there were 104 properties sold in the SW19 area, changing hands for an average price of £478,548.
This is a sharp drop from the previous month although there were an unusually high number of top end properties changing hands during May.
There were seven properties sold for over a million pounds during the month the most expensive of which was on St. Mary's Road which sold for £2,200,000.
The June data from Land Registry's flagship House Price Index shows an annual price rise of 0.9% which takes the average property value in England and Wales to £161,777.
London remains the best performing area in the country with prices rising by 6.3% to £359,476 over the same period.
The most up-to-date figures available show that during April 2012, the number of completed house sales in England and Wales decreased by 19 per cent to 41,244 compared with 50,721 in April 2011.
The number of properties sold in England and Wales for over £1 million in April 2012 decreased by 43 per cent to 468 from 825 in April 2011.
