Wimbledon Property Sales - May 2012
Parkside house becomes SW19's eighth most expensive
In May 2012, there were 107 properties sold in the SW19 area, changing hands for an average price of £675,233.
This is one of the highest monthly averages on record.
There were 15 properties sold for over a million pounds during the month the most expensive of which was on Parkside which sold for £6,900,000 the eighth highest price ever paid in SW19.
The May data from Land Registry's flagship House Price Index shows an annual price rise of 0.4% which takes the average property value in England and Wales to £161,677.
London remains the best performing area in the country with prices rising by 7.7% to £365,359 over the same period.
The most up-to-date figures available show that during March 2012, the number of completed house sales in England and Wales increased by 25 per cent to 58,609 compared with 46,742 in March 2011.
The number of properties sold in England and Wales for over £1 million in March 2012 decreased by 41 per cent to 501 from 845 in March 2011.
