Wimbledon Get Set For New Season

Dons open friendlies with Fulham win

AFC Wimbledon's list of pre-season fixtures started on Saturday July 9 with a 2 v 0 home win against Fulham, thanks to goals from Brett Johnson and new signing Charles Ademeno.

They followed it up with a 5 - 1 win away at Staines Town, watched by a crowd of 378. On July 16 they drew 1 - 1 at Sutton United; on July 19 they won 6 - 0 at Beckenham Town; on July 21 they beat Bedfont Town 3 - 2 on penalties after the match ended 1 - 1 at full-time; on Saturday (July 23) they beat Watford 2 - 1.

The final friendly match on Tuesday (July 26) saw them beat Tooting & Mitcham at home, 2 - 1. It meant Dons could lift The Lanes Cup, which has been traditionally played between the two teams.

Their first game back as a Football League team, is in a Carling Cup prelimary round at Crawley Town on Friday July 29.

Their first match in League Two is at home against relegated Bristol Rovers on Saturday August 6 and the match is certain to be a sell-out.
