Why Not Spare One Hour Of Your Time?

Wanted: Wimbledon volunteers

Wimbledon residents are being urged to spare just 60 minutes of their time to help a local charity or good cause.

The Jubilee Hour is a national campaign which seeks to encourage volunteering as part of the Queen's Diamond Jubilee celebrations.

Already, more 40 Merton residents have pledged their time to a wide range of local good causes, ranging from fence painting at Deen City Farm in South Wimbledon, to weeding and garden maintence at Cannon's Park Green Space.

The Jubilee Hour campaign will run until the end of December 2012 and all Jubilee hour volunteers will receive a commemorative certificate later in the year.

If you are interested in becoming involved, either as a volunteer or organisation offering volunteering opportunities, contact beau@volunteercentremerton.org.uk or visit www.volunteercentremerton.org.uk where a list of organisations participating and activities are detailed.

VCM will been working with the London Borough of Merton to recruit volunteers to support the staging on local Diamond Jubilee and Olympic-related events. These include: Merton's Outdoor Arts Festival (July 21); the Olympic Torch Relay event (July 23); the celebration to mark the end of the Olympics (August 12); and Disability Day-a Paralympic celebration (September 7).

If you would like to volunteer for any of the above events, please contact debby@volunteercentremerton.org.uk or telephone 020 8640 7355.
