Wimbledon felt hard done by after being held to a 1-1 home draw by lowly Hereford United on Saturday (20 August).

The Dons were left aggrieved after Luke Moore had a seemingly good goal disallowed for offside in the first-half, while Charles Ademeno's second-half header also appeared over the line but wasn't given by the officials.

Afterwards, Dons skipper Jamie Stuart fumed to the Surrey Comet: "I am really disappointed with the linesman. That [Ademeno's header] was a goal as it was two yards over the line. Their goalkeeper has dived in the goal to save it."

But those complaints can't disguise the fact that the Wimbledon defence was again porous in the opening moments. It took Hereford - without a point or even so much as a goal before this game - just eight minutes to open the scoring.

Benoit Dalibard played a hopeful lofted pass in towards veteran striker Delroy Facey on the edge of the Dons box but Brett Johnson made a hash of his challenge and, with Seb Brown in no-man's land, Facey's gentle header nestled in the back of the net.

The goal seemed to further unsettle the Dons defence, with Stuart Fleetwood blasting a chance narrowly over and Brown having to save other attempts from Fleetwood and Facey.

But the Dons started to come into it midway through the half. First goalkeeper David Cornell palmed Ademeno's header from a Jack Midson cross onto the post, and then the Dons levelled from Sam Hatton's corner, Midson rising on the six-yard line to glance his header home.

Five minutes later came the first moment of controversy. Rashid Yussuff was set up by Ademeno's cushioned header but Cornell reacted well to save at the midfielder's feet. When Midson's follow-up was blocked on the line, Luke Moore reacted quickest to slot it home from a narrow angle. But the Dons were frustrated as the forward was harshly adjudged to have been offside for Midson's effort.

The Dons continued pressing in the second half but also continued to look vulnerable at the other end.

It culminated in the dying minutes when Brett Johnson's header across the six-yard box from Hatton's corner gave Ademeno a clear header, with Dons fans and players alike convinced that the ball was over the line before Cornell could pull off his save.

The Dons will be hoping for better luck when they travel to Macclesfield Town next Saturday (27 August) before hosting Port Vale on 3 September.
