Wimbledon Property Sales - July 2011
Market appears remains below peaks of last year
According to the latest data released on the local property market, prices in the SW19 area have recoverd from earlier in the year but remain below the levels seen in 2010.
The average sale in SW19 reported in July took place at £556,070. Up until the end of last year average prices had been above £600,000 suggesting a fall of around 7% from peak levels.
For the country as a whole the July data from Land Registry's flagship House Price Index shows an annual price decrease of 2.1% which takes the average property value in England and Wales to £163,049. By contrast, London prices over the same period rose by 1.3% to £346,416 .
The most up-to-date figures available show that during May 2011, the number of completed house sales in England and Wales decreased by 10 per cent to 46,870 from 52,170 in May 2010. The number of properties sold in England and Wales for over £1 million decreased by 44 per cent between May 2010 and May 2011, from 464 to 262.
The latest reported sales are given in the table below.
The numbers below are subject to revision as is it usual that some properties are added late to the Land Registry's database.
