Pensioner Dies After Wimbledon Road Crash


Police appeal for witnesses after accident

A 91-year-old man who was involved in a serious road accident on Saturday (May 24) has now died, police have reported.

They were called to Durnsford Road junction with Weir Road in Wimbledon at 10.17am on Saturday (May 24), following reports of a serious road traffic collision.

Police attended the scene along with London Ambulance Service and London Air Ambulance. They found the pensioner was suffering from serious injuries following a collision with a car.

The 91-year-old man was taken by London Ambulance Service to a south London Hospital in a critical condition.

The driver of the car stopped at the scene. No arrests have been made.

The pensioner's condition deteriorated and he died today (May 25). Next of kin have been informed.

Police said enquiries into the accident are continuing, and officers from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit at Hampton are investigating. Anyone with information is asked to call officers on 0208 941 9011.
