Engineering Work Will Reduce Wimbledon Tram Service

Fewer trams on May 12 and 13

The Wimbledon to Mitcham tram service will be reduced to 15-minute shuttle service on May 12 and 13 due to the ongoing Mitcham-Mitcham Junction twin tracking works.

The full details of the effect of the work is outlined below:

  •         There will be no tram service between Mitcham and Mitcham Junction
  •        A replacement bus service will run between Mitcham and Mitcham Junction with bus timetables posted at local stops
  •        A shuttle tram will run every 15 minutes between Wimbledon and Mitcham
  •        Trams will run normally between Mitcham Junction and New Addington.

Valid tram tickets will be accepted on local bus services in the Wimbledon - Mitcham - Croydon area. Oyster pay as you go customers will receive an automatic refund if they touch in correctly when boarding each mode.

The staircase at Mitcham will also be closed until June 18 due to the staircase modification works although pedestrian access will be maintained at all times.

Aside from this work, Transport for London warns day and night activity will continue on the tram lines until mid-summer.
