More Train Disruption Caused By Raynes Park Incident

Wimbledon trains may be cancelled as emergency crews attend scene

Wimbledon trains may be cancelled or severely delayed in today's rush hour after emergency services were called to deal with an incident at Raynes Park this afternoon (Tuesday August 22).

South Western Railway (which recently replaced South West Trains) say train services running between Wimbledon and Surbiton may be cancelled, delayed by up to 60 minutes or revised, with disruption expected until 5pm.

They said in a statement: “A train has come to a halt near to Raynes Park. The driver has reported an incident. The emergency services have been summoned to attend and deal with this incident.

“Fast services between Clapham Junction and Woking will have run at a slower speed than normal while investigations are carried out.

“Slow services between Wimbledon and Raynes Park maybe diverted as currently the country bound suburban line is closed

“To reduce the delays to trains, some services may have to be altered or revised at short notice. Some services may also be diverted via an alternative route. We are sorry for the disruption.”

South Western Railway tickets will be accepted on the following routes:

Southern Services between London Victoria/Clapham Junction and Epsom/Dorking.

TFL London Buses between Wimbledon and Epsom via any reasonable route (Including Raynes Park, New Malden and Surbiton).

London Tramlink via any reasonable route (To connect with Southern Services at East Croydon).

Passengers are also being advised not to use South Western Railway on Thursday and Friday because the Waterloo improvement works will reduce services by 75% on those two days.
