Local Transport Chaos After Man Hit By Train

Man dies after incident at Surbiton station

There have been problems with South West Trains through Wimbledon for most of today (April 27) after a man was hit by a train between Wimbledon and Surbiton.

The man died after he was struck by the train at Surbiton station at about 11.35am, which caused the train line to be closed for around two hours.

South West Trains say disruption is to be expected until 11pm tonight, with some trains being cancelled and others delayed by 90 minutes.

In addition, a train fault at Clapham Junction in the afternoon resulted in the Windsor lines being closed. They were expected to be shut until at least 7pm.
