Charity Fun At Wimbledon Rugby Club

Wimbledon Rugby Club is staging a Charity Sevens rugby tournament and party - The Blazing Saddles 7's - on Saturday July 7.

The event at the club in Barham Road, Copse Hill, is in its second year and is an authorised RFU event.

The Tournament, in aid of War Child, will run from 10.00am till 5.30pm with aBBQ, prize giving, raffle, live band and DJ in the evening. 

Subject to one or two possible minor time changes, the format on the day for the tournament is:   
10am - Teams arrive at Wimbledon RFC and Register 
11am - 1.30pm Group matches 
2.00pm - Plate Quarter Finals (knock-out stages) 
2.30pm - Cup Quarter finals (knock-out stages) 
3.00pm - Plate Semi Final (knock-out stages)
3.30pm - Cup Semi Final (knock-out stages)
4.00pm - Plate Final 
4.30pm - Cup Final 
5.30pm  - Presentation, Raffle – all proceeds going to Charities,
6.00pm - Party live band and DJ
Group / Plate / Cup 
There will be 4 groups with 4 teams in each group. Within the group stages each team will play each other once (3 games each per team) and the top two teams will go through to the main cup competition and the bottom two through to the plate - the knockout stages.

  • Wimbledon Rugby Club's first team were promoted to the London 1 South League at the end of the season, following victory over Charlton Park in a play-off match.
