Several overnight thefts reported

Thieves have been stealing small trees and potted shrubs from gardens in Wimbledon, police have warned.

They have reported several overnight thefts in the Wimbledon Village and Wimbledon Park areas.

Although no suspects have been seen, police believe a vehicle must have been involved in the thefts.

Sgt Danny Smith said: "Whilst not necessarily easy to secure these items, if any steps can be taken to make thefts like this more difficult, please take them.

"The same advice applies to any statues or metal ornaments as they too have been taken in the past. If you see anything suspicious please call the police using 999 if the crime is in progress or 101 to report."
