In most cases, property is taken from unattended cars
Police have warned that over the past few weeks there has been a sharp rise in the number of car crime in the Wimbledon Park area.
The majority of these crimes are theft from motor vehicles, where items or cash is stolen from an unattended car. These crimes tend to occur late in the evening or overnight.
They say the hotspots are the grid and roads that border Home Park road.
Car owners are asked to make themselves less vulnerable to becoming a victim of motor vehicle crime by always remembering to secure their vehicles, and not leaving anything on display.
Police say if you do become a victim of car crime then, please report it to them. If possible please remember to preserve your car, as much as is practical, as they can sometimes retrieve forensic evidence.
