Wimbledon Common Golf Club Marks The Lives Of Two Members

New clubhouse clock in memory of Karen Owen

The lives of two members were celebrated at Wimbledon Common Golf Club recently. 

Karen Owen, who was Lady Captain from 2009 – 2012 and died just 49, left money for a clock to be erected on the roof of the club house to encourage members to arrive on the first tee on time!  

Jack Miles (above) who died two weeks before his 105th birthday, had been a member of the club since 1947, he was also Club Secretary, Club Captain and the Guinness Book of Records’ oldest UK Golf Club President. A bench commemorating his long life will overlook the practice green.
