Woman In Custody Over Christmas After Tram Incident

Emma West makes second court appearance

A woman has been remanded in custody again after being charged with an offence of racial aggravation after an incident on the Croydon to Wimbledon tram, which was captured on video by another passenger.

Emma West, aged 34, of New Addington, was charged with Racially Aggravated Section 4a on November 28 and remanded in custody.

She appeared at Croydon Magistrates Court today (Tuesday December 6) where she was remanded in custody again until Tuesday January 3. She has yet to enter a plea.

The YouTube video has now been uploaded more than 11 million times.

The trams run from Croydon to Wimbledon and it is not clear where on the line the incident took place. But one comment on the YouTube link said it took place as the tram travelled to Wimbledon.
