Anyone For Tennis?

Chance for free Wimbledon coaching

Wimbledon's yongsters will have the opportunity to try out their tennis skills when the All England Lawn Tennis Club, The Lawn Tennis Association and Merton Council organise their annual free tennis fun day.

Young people aged 3–18 will have the chance to learn top tips on how to play or improve their technique with professional tennis coaches on hand to help.

The Wimbledon Park courts will be open from 10am till 3pm for the event on Saturday June 25. In previous years between 100 and 300 youngsters have descended on the event.

Merton Council's cabinet member for community and culture Councillor Martin Whelton said: "I would like to thank the AELTC and LTA for their support for this event. This is a fantastic opportunity for budding young tennis players to play tennis just a stone's throw away from where the world-famous tournament is taking place.

"Young people may even get the opportunity to meet some of the tennis stars who occasionally come down to join in when they're not busy playing at the Championships."
