South Wimbledon Tube Is To Re-Open On A Part-Time Basis

Local Northern Line station has been shut during the coronavirus pandemic

South Wimbledon tube station is to re-open from August 17, but the hours will be limited as TfL takes a cautious approach to unlocking its network.

 

Local London Assembly Member, Leonie Cooper AM, said to the news that it will be open from 7am to 7pm on Mondays to Fridays: “I have been very pleased to receive confirmation from TfL that South Wimbledon tube station will be reopening again from next month.

 

“This news will come as a relief for local commuters and will provide a welcome boost to trade for businesses, pubs and restaurants on the high street.

 

“Whilst the station’s opening hours will be limited, TfL is rightly taking a cautious approach to gradually unlocking its network.

 

“I encourage all local people using public transport to play their part by wearing a mask, maintaining social distancing and, where possible, avoiding peak hours”.
