Victim assaulted at tube station
Police are appealing for witnesses after a man was assaulted and his mobile phone stolen at South Wimbledon tube station.
The 28-year-old victim had responded to an internet advert selling an iPhone.
However when he met the man posing as the phone seller at South Wimbledon tube on Friday September 9, he was assaulted and robbed of his own phone.
Detectives from British Transport Police have now released CCTV images of the suspect (left).
BTP Detective Constable Keith McEwen, who is investigating the robbery, said: "We have circulated the images on police intelligence systems but have been unable to identify the man shown, who we believe can help us with our enquiries.
"The victim was not seriously injured but was left very shaken by what happened. People should always be careful when agreeing to meet someone they have contacted on the internet and if possible should go with a friend.
"I am appealing for anyone with any information about this incident, or who recognises the man in the images, to get in contact."
Anyone who recognises the man in the image or who has any information which may assist the investigation is asked to call 0800 40 50 40, quoting background log number B17/LUA of 15/11/2011. Alternatively, contact Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
