Southern Rail Services To Be Hit By Strike Action

Warning about South West Train Overcrowding

Strike action by RMT union members will affect Southern rail services on Tuesday (June 21) and will result in a limited service on the Southern network.

Although South West Train services through Wimbledon will not be affected, all services from Clapham Junction to London Waterloo will be busier than normal.

The strike affects Southern services between Clapham Junction and Milton Keynes via Kensington Olympia and no services west of Chichester to Portsmouth Harbour and Southampton Central. There will also be a limited service between Clapham Junction and London Victoria.

While South West Trains will operate a normal timetable it warns that stations and trains are expected to be busier than normal. Queuing systems may be put in place to manage overcrowding.

Platform 16 & 17 will not be in use at Clapham Junction during the reduced service. Platform 13 will only operate four trains an hour, two per hour to Brighton and two per hour to Three Bridges and Platform 12 will run significantly fewer services also with only four trains an hour.

Due to increased demand during the morning peak, a one way system will be in operation on Platform 10 for passengers to access the platform from the overbridge.
