Borough is on the Queen's tour

The Queen is to visit Merton on Tuesday May 15 as part of her Diamond Jubilee celebrations.

The details have yet to be revealed, but she will be visiting the borough with the Duke of Edinburgh.

During the same day she will also visit Bromley and Richmond. It's part of a tour of the United Kingdom she will carry out from March 8-July 25.

Ged Curran, Merton council's Chief Executive, said: "We are honoured that the Queen has chosen to visit Merton to mark her 60 years on the throne. The Jubilee year will be remembered by people up and down the country for many years to come."
