New book in the spotlight
Guardian columnist Polly Toynbee and co-author David Walker are coming to William Morris House on Thursday (November 15). They will discuss and debate their new book "Dogma and disarray – Cameron at Half Time".
Polly Toynbee and David Walker, sharp dissectors of the Blair and Brown record in their book The Verdict, now report on Cameron's first half in a fast-paced and lively book.
Their title sums up their interim conclusion. They argue that this Government is is an ideological regime, but also peculiarly inept. Recent border control problems and security at the Olympics underline the point. But Cameron has serious intentions. Thatcher privatised the nationalised industries but he wants to privatise the state itself, they argue.
