Video released of woman unleashing string of abuse
Police are investigating after a woman unleashed a racist rant on a tram to Wimbledon, which was captured on video by another passenger.
The unidentified woman, who had a small child sitting on her lap, hurled her abuse at fellow passengers.
Her outburst has been put on YouTube by a user called "ladyk89". It has already been uploaded more than 10,000 times.
The trams run from Croydon to Wimbledon and it is not clear where on the line the offence took place. But one comment on the YouTube link says the rant lasted for 20 minutes and took place as the tram travelled to Wimbledon.
A British Transport Police (BTP) spokesman said: "The video posted on YouTube and Twitter has been brought to our attention and our officers have launched an investigation.
"At present it is not entirely clear which tram stops the offence took place between and when it occurred. As a result we need anyone who witnessed this incident, or with any information that could assist our investigation – including the identity of the woman – to contact us.
"We will not tolerate racism in any form on the rail network and will do everything in our power to locate the person responsible."
