The Old Ruts get our backing

WimbledonSW19.com are among the proud sponsors of the Old Rutlishians' Cricket Club, based in Merton Park.

The thriving club - known as 'Old Ruts' for short - has had great success in recent seasons, with several teams gaining promotion.

They have five Saturday teams, four of which play league cricket in the Surrey Championship. On Sundays they put out two sides - the Firsts in a league, the Seconds as a social/academy side.

They also have a growing Colts section, with more than 300 member families.

The club has three home grounds and a clubhouse and bar at their main ground in Poplar Road, Merton Park (left). This has been its home since the 1920s, but it was founded back in 1909 when it played on a number of local pitches, including the Haydons Road Rec.

It is part of the Old Rutlishians Association (ORA) which boasts more than 1,000 members.
