Nectar Pilots Loyalty Scheme With Local Wimbledon Businesses

Collect points at SW19 independents until December 11

Wimbledon residents are the first in the country to have the chance to collect Nectar points from local businesses as the well-known loyalty programme trials its scheme with SW19 merchants.

Shoppers should keep their eyes peeled for Nectar stickers placed in participating businesses’ windows where cardholders can collect 2 points for every £1 spent from now until December 11.

More than 20 local businesses across Wimbledon will be taking part in the trial scheme, including independent coffee shops, hair and beauty salons, florists, and a yoga studio.

Shoppers collect points by presenting a Nectar card at the point of payment, and points are added to their Nectar account within 28 days.

As well as giving customers more places to collect points, Nectar says the initiative supports local businesses with a commercial offering that will attract new customers, build customer loyalty and engagement and help drive sales.

Angela Yates, owner of Gooseberry Bush café, yoga studio and practice in Kingston Road, said: “Having a loyal local customer base is crucial for a business like ours so being involved in the Nectar scheme is a fantastic opportunity. It’s great that we can both reward our existing customers with Nectar points while also giving us a USP to attract new clientele too.”

James Moir, Managing Director of Nectar, added: “Nectar is continually looking at new ways for customers to collect points on their everyday spend, and this initiative is testament to our ongoing development of the programme. By partnering with local businesses, Wimbledon residents can now collect more points when going about their daily lives.”

The company hopes to learn from the experience of working with local businesses in Wimbledon before considering developing the programme elsewhere.

To celebrate the initiative, there will be a series of additional limited offers available for Nectar cardholders at the town centre Piazza throughout the next month. Events (see below) include coffee from Kaldi coffee, sketching pads from Fielders and cakes from Gooseberry Bush café.

·         Thursday 10 November (PM): Free cake from Gooseberry Bush Yoga

·         Friday 25 November (AM): Free coffee from Kaldi coffee

·         Wednesday 7 December (All day): Free sketchpad from Fielders.
