Third Man Charged Over Wimbledon Murder

Police investigating the murder of Paul Dalton who died of knife wounds in Wimbledon Town Centre have charged a third man in connection

30-year-old Danny Webster of Merton was charged on Friday, 15 January with perverting the course of justice. He is due to appear in custody at Wimbledon Magistrates' Court on Saturday, 16 January.

33-year-old Mongo Bolili was earlier charged with the murder of 41-year-old Mr Dalton. Both men are described as being from Merton.

The victim was found with stab injuries after the police were called to reports of an assault in a property at The Broadway at 00:55am on Wednesday, 13 January

Despite the efforts of the emergency services, he was pronounced dead at the scene at 1.55am. A post mortem determined that the cause of death was a stab wound. His next of kin are being supported by specialist officers.

A 26-year-old man called Ian Matu has also been charged with perverting the cause of justice.

Mr Bolili and Mr Matu both appeared at Wimbledon Magistrates' Court on Friday, 15 January where they were further remanded in custody to appear at the Old Bailey.

Mr Bolili will next appear on Tuesday, 19 January, and Mr Matu on Friday, 12 February.

A 53-year-old man who was also arrested on suspicion of murder has been released on bail to a date in early February.

Two men, aged in their twenties, who were arrested at the scene and taken into custody have been released with no further action.

Detectives from the Met’s Specialist Crime Command (Homicide) are investigating.
