Wimbledon councillor will be next Merton Mayor
The Mayor Elect of Merton is 33-year-old Wimbledon Conservative Councillor, Krystal Miller.
She was nominated at the recent full meeting of Merton Borough Council, while Councillor John Sargeant, from Merton Park Wark Independent Residents, will serve as Deputy Mayor.
Councillor Krystal Miller (left) said: "I am very excited about the prospect of becoming Mayor and greatly honoured to have been chosen by my colleagues.
"I will place a strong emphasis on volunteering as the Borough's First Citizen. I want to support Merton's charities and businesses by promoting the best of what we have to offer to those outside."
Councillor John Sargeant said: "I am looking forward to the privilege of supporting the Mayor throughout her hectic year in office. Meeting the people who are the force behind Merton's many vibrant charities and businesses will be a particular honour."
