MertonVision Boosted By Chamber Of Commerce Lunch

Raffle helps raise funds for local charity

Merton Chamber of Commerce's annual Christmas Lunch event raised more than £780 for the MertonVision charity.

The event, held at San Lorenzo Fuoriporta in Wimbledon on Wednesday (December 16), saw more than 90 guests give generously to the fund-raising raffle.

MertonVision, a local charity celebrating its 50th Anniversary, provides services, information, training and support to blind and partially sighted adults and children living in Merton. It helps people come to terms with their loss, and give them the skills to stay independent and live life to the full.

Fran Hibbert of MertonVision said: "A very big thank to the members of MCC who not only donated excellent prizes for the Christmas raffle, they also dug deep into their pockets to buy raffle tickets (maybe to win back the prizes!).

"MertonVision helps 1,000 adults and children in Merton who have sight loss. The money raised will be used to help fund our monthly Saturday club for blind and partially sighted children, some of whom have additional physical difficulties. The club gives them the opportunity to join in and compete in activities with other sight impaired children, often in activities they have not been 'allowed' to do because of their visual impairment."
