Local Artists Open Up Their Studios


Merton Arts Festival takes place over two September weekends

Merton Arts Festival, including artist open house events, will be taking place across the borough over the weekends of September 16/17 and 23/24.

This event will include emerging and established artists in the borough opening their houses and studios to the public from 11am-5pm.

The theme of the this year's festival is 'reflection and transformation'.

There are workshops and demos as well as free festival talks. Details on the free talks are below:

‘William Morris and the People of Merton.’ Illustrated talk by Dave Saxby and Portia Dadley.
Suitable for ages 12+. 20 September, 7.30pm at William Morris House, 267 The Broadway, SW19 1SD.

‘The Representation of Light in Painting.’ A talk by Nicholas Wyatt. 24 September, 4-6pm at the Garden Pavilion, South Park Gardens, SW19 8QW.

‘Living Art.’ Anthony Hodgson reveals the story behind the painting, using spoken word, poetry and song. 23 September, 7pm at St Mark’s Church, St Mark’s Place, SW19 7ND.
