Time To Learn Something New?

Free taster classes on offer in Merton

Merton Adult Education (MAE) is celebrating Adult Learners’ Week (14-20 June), by offering residents free taster sessions for a variety of activities at MAE venues and libraries across the borough.

The short courses range from Chinese language classes, childcare, make-up artistry, dance and computerised accounting.

Following Adult Learners' Week, MAE will also be holding a drop-in careers advice morning on Tuesday 17 June from 11am-1.30pm and open days on Tuesday 10 July from 4-6pm and Thursday 4 September from 12-8pm at the Whatley Avenue centre in Wimbledon Chase to give people an opportunity to speak to tutors about choosing the right course for them.

Merton Council cabinet member for education, Councillor Martin Whelton, said: "Merton Adult Education offers fantastic opportunities for residents to take up a new hobby, get back into education or develop their skill set near to where they live. Whether you want to learn how to speak Spanish, French or develop your British Sign Language skills, learn to cook, do tai chi, ballroom dancing, or take part in IT classes, there’s a course for you at MAE."

To enrol on a course, call 020 8274 5222 or visit www.maec.ac.uk for more information.
