Councillors Agree To Expansion
The Cumulative Impact Zone (CIZ) covering Wimbledon town centre and Wimbledon Village, within which the council can refuse new alcohol licences, will be extended.
Merton Borough Council has agreed to extend the existing CIZ in Wimbledon Village along the Ridgway from Sunnyside as far as the Swan Public House.
It will also include the forecourt and platform area at Wimbledon station as well as the commercial premises on Hartfield Crescent within the Wimbledon town centre CIZ.
Licensing Committee chairman, Councillor David Simpson, who proposed the changes, said: "These changes are based on the recent consultation with local residents who currently suffer the impacts of the nighttime economy and were in favour of the restrictions."
