With last week’s match at Hove postponed to Saturday (February 22) - supposedly a week free of league fixtures – half of Wimbledon’s squad were unavailable for this re-arranged game.

There was no reporter present at the match but it is quite clear from the 27-13 scoreline that defeat under the circumstances was no disgrace; indeed, Wimbledon’s coach was full of praise for the performance given by a truly makeshift team.

Next week the regular first-teamers will return for the home fixture against Dover.
