Historic mosaic signage which has re-emerged during the refurbishment of the Wimbledon Chase Co-operative is to be restored and uncovered.

Local Councillor Anthony Fairclough had been among many to have admired the original sign, which has appeared from behind modern-day hoarding on the Kingston Road shop.

Now the Co-op has told him the sign (as featured in his picture above) is to be restored to its former glory.

The Co-op's Head of Construction Stephen Lamb, thanked him for alerting the company to the appearance of the sign and told him they would now work to restore it.

Mr Lamb said in a letter to Councillor Fairclough: “I am very pleased to confirm that it is out intention to have the sign restored to its former glory. We intend to carry the works out as soon as possible and will update you with a completion date, once confirmed."
