Second fatality at station since installation of safety fencing
A teenager has died after being struck by a train at Wimbledon station on Monday evening (22nd September).
The 18-year-old, believed to be from Croydon, was hit by a train just before 10.30pm.
Police and ambulance staff were called to the scene, but the woman was pronounced dead. British Transport Police say the death is not being treated as suspicious.
South West Trains had to halt trains running through the station, and the service was affected for the rest of the evening.
The death is the second at the station since the installation of safety fencing. A 51-year-old Wimbledon woman died at the station on July 21.
