Pop along and meet members of Wimbledon Fencing Club
British Fencing is hosting an event at Waterloo Station on Thursday 9 June to showcase the sport and encourage people to get involved in some way – from an active participant in the sport itself, to following and supporting our team in Rio.
Members of Wimbledon Fencing Club will be there if you are interested in finding out more about fencing locally.
The day will be running from 11am noon through until 8pm with compered fencing demonstrations taking place, opportunities for people to have a go with plastic fencing kit and a reaction game to allow people to test their reaction speeds.
1. Lessons (fencers taking lessons to showcase range of moves)
2. Individual matches
3. Relay matches
4. Demonstration fights where we demonstrate types of tactics and moves
5. Demonstration group footwork exercises
6. Have a Go – this will take 3 forms:
a. Try and hit a ‘real’ fencer with a plastic sword
b. Try and hit your work colleague – 1st to 3
c. Teams of work colleagues take on each other
