Help Clear Invasive Pennywort From The River Wandle


Volunteers needed for London Rivers Week event in Wandle Park

London Rivers Week is aiming to inspire people to take pride in the capital’s waterways, understand the challenges they face and come together to create a healthy future for our rivers.

The South East Rivers Trust is organising a number of events to celebrate our waterways, including one event at Wandle Park in Colliers Wood.

You can join the Trust on the River Wandle on June 29 to learn about the invasive aquatic species found along the river and help tackle the formidable floating pennywort.

Floating Pennywort in an invasive non-native plant species which grows in dense floating mats, choking small waterways and ponds and causing chaos for our native plants and animals.

You'll need to bring:

Lunch and plenty of water

Appropriate clothing for the weather

A spare change of clothes in case you get wet

The Trust provide:

Waders and all equipment

Tea and coffee.

They will send out exact details of meeting place and times to all attendees who book a place, closer to the event. The basic details are:
