Enjoy Bonfire Night In Wimbledon

Bonfire Night will be marked in Wimbledon with the council-run firework display in Wimbledon Park on Friday November 5.

The Friends of South Park Gardens will also stage their annnual 'Fireworks In The Park' event in the park on Saturday November 6.

Gates open for the Wimbledon Park display at 5.15pm on Friday November 5, with the first bonfire being lit at 6.30pm, followed by the first fireworks display at 6.45pm.

This year’s theme is all about Disney and, to celebrate the first decade of the millennium, there will be lots of musical hits from the last 10 years.

A second bonfire will be lit at 8.15pm, with the second fireworks display at 8.30pm. There will also be stalls and a fairground, which will be open until 10pm.

Prices are: Adults, £7; under-16s, £5; under-4s, free entry; family ticket (two adults, two children - under 18) £20. The entrances are via Wimbledon Park Road, Revelstoke Road and Homefield Road.

The Friends of South Park Gardens’ Bonfire and Fireworks Party on Saturday November 6 is a family event particularly designed for young children and the fireworks used are relatively low noise.

The gates open at 4.45pm with the bonfire being lit at 5.30pm. The 15-minute firework display is at 6pm, with the event ending at 6.30pm. Tickets for this event will be in the form of wristbands which have already been sent out.

Merton Council also organises a firework display in Morden Park, London Road, Morden, from 5.15pm on Saturday November 6. And other nearby events take place in Battersea Park and Bishops Park. For more information on those, click here.
