Wimbledon's Ambience Is Nation's Top Takeaway

Leopold Road restaurant beats 11,000 rivals to win top award

Wimbledon’s Ambience, a family-run restaurant serving Turkish style kebabs in Leopold Road has been named the top takeaway restaurant in a national competition.

Ambience, run by Tanser Ozdemir, beat off stiff competition in the competition run by online food ordering platform hungryhouse.co.uk, thanks to their consistent fivestar ratings, rave reviews and the site’s highest return rate over the last 12 months.

Tanser said: "We’ve worked hard to meet the requirements of Top Takeaways. We’re ecstatic to be named the UK’s number one for 2016. To win this level of exposure for our restaurant is something we can only dream of and we can’t wait to welcome more people down."

The success of Ambience is thanks to recipes handed down throughout the years by the close-knit family who have a passion for sharing the food they know and love with others.

Food has always played a large part in owner Tanser’s life: "I was always the favourite friend at school, with all my friends wanting to come round and have mums food. We had food falling off the table and it would be recipes they weren’t used to - they could never get enough," he said.

Leeds haunt Thai Sabai was runner-up while while Cafe Zecchino in Glasgow landed third place.

To crown the winners hungryhouse used an algorithm that analyses data from 11,000 restaurant partners and millions of customer reviews to rank Britain’s takeaways.
