Stars To Come Out At New Wimbledon Theatre

A Centennial Celebration line-up is unveiled

Catherine Tate's 'Nan' will be treading the boards at New Wimbledon Theatre as part of its charity gala - A Centennial Celebration.

Arguably the UK's most popular pensioner, Joannie 'Nan' Taylor - the alter ego of Catherine Tate (left) - will star alongside a host of celebrity guests and theatre friends as they commemorate the venue’s 100th birthday on Sunday September 26.

The show’s full line-up includes Master of Ceremonies Shane Richie alongside comedy from Alistair McGowan, Barry Cryer, Bobby Davro, Joe Pasquale, and Paul Zerdin.

There will also be music from Faryl Smith, Four Poofs and a Piano, Gareth Gates, Ruth Lorenzo and The Unconventionals; dance performances by Matthew Bourne’s New Adventures and Britain’s Got Talent finalists Stavros Flatley; music hall numbers from Jan Hunt and Anita Harris; appearances by June Whitfield, Eamonn Holmes and Ruth Langsford.

Wimbledon's forthcoming world premiere musicals Half A Sixpence and Oliver! will also be celebrated, in which Fagin himself - the legendary Ron Moody - will be Reviewing the Situation. They will be supported by a twelve piece orchestra conducted by Mike Dixon and the Laine Theatre Arts Dancers. Organisers also promise some special surprise guest appearances on the night.

Directed by Kevin Bishop, who has directed several Royal Variety Performances, BAFTA ceremonies and high-profile comedy events, A Centennial Celebration will incorporate music, comedy, dance and tributes to the 'Grand Old Lady of Wimbledon's Broadway' as the venue is affectionately known by all of the artists appearing on the bill.

All profits from the night will be split between two charities: the Entertainment Artistes Benevolent Fund (EABF) and the Wimbledon Civic Theatre Trust (WCTT).
