October Festival set to be launched on June 21
TV broadcaster and author Peter Snow (below) is among the writers lined up to appear at this year's Wimbledon Bookfest.
The festival, which takes place from October 2-10, will feature book-related events and workshops for adults and children at various venues in Wimbledon.
The final weekend of the festival will include a "Big Tent" on Wimbledon Common on October 8-10 where author and family-based activities will be held.
Organisers are still finalising details of this year's festival, but have said author Liz Jenson will also be appearing. Last year's event included well-known names such as Sir Peter Blake, Gyles Brandreth, Sir Max Hastings, Timothy West and Wimbledon resident, June Whitfield.
The programme will be unveiled by Bookfest patron Penny Vincanzi at a launch party on Monday June 21 (6.30-8pm) at the Wimbledon College of Art. It coincides with the college's degree Summer Show, where final year theatre set design students have included a literary theme.
