Covid-19 Admissions on the Rise in Local Hospitals


Number on mechanical ventilation remains low for each site


Demand for intensive care beds and ventilators steady

Patients being admitted to local hospitals because of Coronavirus are on the increase.

A total of 26 more people have been hospitalised with Covid-19 across Health Trusts in West London in the latest week for which numbers are available. There are now 72 people being treated for Covid-19 across the region, up from 46 the week before.

Chelsea and Westminster Hospital and West Middlesex University Hospital saw 25 people admitted, up from 14 previously.

At Ealing, Northwick Park and Central Middlesex hospitals, 35 people are now admitted, up from 27 previously.

The only borough to see deaths between those dates is Ealing, which saw two people die from Covid.

Ealing and Hounslow boroughs have seen the weekly number of positive tests increase by more than 50 per cent .

Public Health England (PHE) figures published on 19 July show a 54.7 per cent in Hounslow to 913 cases, and Ealing has seen cases rise by 51.4 per cent to 1,288.

As of 13 July there were no more than three people on mechanical ventilation in each trust.

Two people died in Ealing Borough after recently receiving a positive Covid test in Ealing between 5 and 11 July

By 18 July a total of 159,367 of Ealing’s estimated 341,000 residents had had two doses of the Covid vaccine with 127,555 of Hounslow’s 270,000 residents fully vaccinated.
