Call For Measures To Stop Overcrowding On South West Trains

Politicians unite to demand action on south west London services

The following letter has been written by a cross-party group of London politicians calling for South West Trains (SWT) to take urgent action to halt overcrowding on its commuter services into central London.

The politicians, including Mayor Boris Johnson and Richard Tracey, AM for Merton and Wandsworth, believe SWT should take action in the next two years to address the overcrowding. They ask SWT what measures they propose to address a problem which sees passengers regularly wait for several full trains to pass in the morning peak before they are able to board.

Richard Tracey said: "We hope this coordinated effort by the Mayor and London Assembly leaders will produce results for long-suffering commuters."
