Artists open their studios for you to view their work

Its that time of year again and we dont mean Wimbledon. For the past 32 years, artists living in Hammersmith and Fulham have opened their doors to visitors during a weekend in June. Open Studios are springing up all over the place, but Artists at Home (known affectionately as AAH) is one of the first schemes and is still regarded as one of the most rewarding.

The scheme is still growing. Each year brings a new mix of artists living and working in our midst. While some familiar names take a sabbatical - to reappraise work, complete further studies or fulfil commitments to galleries there are several new studios to explore.,

For the past few years Fletchers, the local estate agents, have been the principal sponsors of Artists at Home and we are delighted that they are continuing in that important role. Their interest in the whole scheme and the prominence of their boards outside participating homes is enormously helpful. And, of course, they are always happy to sell houses to people who run out of wall space for their growing art collections!

As usual, there is a broad range of disciplines ceramics, painting, printmaking, drawing, sculpture, textiles, photography. People may have their favourites whom they visit every year, and that continual support is very valuable, but we hope that they will find time to visit a few new studios as well.

An illustrated guide and web site www.artistsathome.net - help people choose which studios to visit. Whether one is looking for something special or just enjoy chatting to artists and looking at their artwork in a relaxed informal setting, AAH is definitely a June event not to be missed.
