Candidates Announced for London Elections


Find out who you can vote for on May 5

In the 2016 Mayor of London and London Assembly elections, Londoners will have three votes. One is for the Mayor of London and two are for the London Assembly - 14 Constituency London Assembly Members and 11 London-wide Assembly Members.

London Elects has announced that 12 candidates are standing to become the Mayor of London for the next four years. You can make a first and second choice from the list of candidates who will either be part of a political party or standing as an independent candidate. The candidates are:

  • BERRY, Sian Rebecca - Green Party
  • FURNESS, David - British National Party
  • GALLOWAY, George - Respect (George Galloway)
  • GOLDING, Paul - Britain First - Putting British people first
  • GOLDSMITH, Zac - The Conservative Party Candidate
  • HARRIS, Lee Eli - Cannabis is Safer Than Alcohol
  • KHAN, Sadiq Aman - Labour Party
  • LOVE, Ankit - One Love Party
  • PIDGEON, Caroline Valerie - London Liberal Democrats
  • WALKER, Sophie - Women's Equality Party
  • WHITTLE, Peter Robin - UK Independence Party (UKIP)
  • ZYLINSKI, Prince - Independent

Greater London Returning Officer, Jeff Jacobs, says: "The Mayor and the London Assembly hold important and powerful roles. The winning Mayoral candidate will be responsible for issues that affect every Londoner – from transport and policing, to housing and the environment – with an annual budget of about £16billion.

"It’s up to the 5.8million Londoners who are eligible to vote to make a decision on who will run the capital for the next four years. Our website London Elects tells you who is standing in your area and what the Mayor and London Assembly Members are responsible for. Remember also to look out for the booklet coming through your letter box in April."

Constituency Assembly Member

You can make one vote for the candidate you would like to represent you in your local area. Candidates will be part of a political party or standing as an independent candidate. Our local is of Ealing and Hillingdon. The candidates are:

  • FRUZZA, Francesco Rossano Alberto - London Liberal Democrats
  • GILHAM, Dominic - The Conservative Party Candidate
  • HANS, Meena - The Green Party
  • NIEORA, Alex - UK Independence Party (UKIP)
  • SAHOTA, Onkar Singh - Labour Party

London-wide Assembly Member

You will be able to make one vote for a political party or an individual standing as an independent candidate. The parties or independent candidates standing are detailed below. Political parties put forward a 'party list' of individuals who will be elected if they get enough votes. You can find the individuals on each party's list by following the link below.
