London Underground say they are committed to running as many services as possible
London Underground staff will stage their third 24-hour strike starting on Sunday 28th November in the evening after talks between unions and Transport for London (TfL) at ACAS broke down. The walkout over jub cuts could mean the widespread disruption for commuters throughout the whole of Monday 29 November, with services returning to normal on Tuesday 30 November.
TfL condemned the leaderships of the TSSA and RMT unions saying they 'scuppered' productive talks and walked away from the offer of a further six weeks to review London Underground’s (LU) staffing plans.
London Underground (LU) has set out the Tube services that it intends to operate on Sunday and Monday during the strike action called by the leaderships of the RMT and TSSA unions.
London Underground say they are committed to running as many services as possible. Although there will be disruption and some planned station closures, trains are expected to run on nearly all Tube lines. Station opening times will vary, with some stations opening from 7am on Monday and some closing earlier in the evening than usual. More details, including on which stations will be closed, are available on TfL’s website at www.tfl.gov.uk.
For example:
· On the Northern line LU intends to serve all branches, although South Wimbledon and Colliers Wood stations are expected to remain closed on Monday.
· On the District line LU intends to run services between Ealing Broadway and Barking, and between Wimbledon and Barking. There will also be some services to Upminster. London Overground trains will serve Kensington Olympia and Richmond as normal.
· On the Central line LU intends to initially operate a service on the outer sections between Ealing Broadway/West Ruislip and White City and between Epping/Hainault and Liverpool Street. This will help the many thousands of commuters travelling to and from work in central London. The intention is to change this service by 10.00 for trains to run through across the entire line
· On the Bakerloo line LU intends to run a service between Elephant & Castle and Queens Park. London Overground trains will serve all stations from Queen’s Park through to Harrow & Wealdstone
· LU intends to run a service on all branches of the Metropolitan line through to Aldgate, and on the Hammersmith & City line from Hammersmith to Edgware Road and possibly Aldgate.
· On the Victoria line LU intends to run a service between Brixton and Seven Sisters, with some services to Walthamstow.
· LU intends to run a Jubilee line service between Wembley Park and Stratford, with additional services where possible.
· Although the Piccadilly line will not serve the central area LU plans to run a service to Heathrow T123 from Acton Town (connecting with the District line).
LU does not intend to operate the Circle line, as most of its stations are served by other lines. Regular updates will be issued throughout the day as actual service levels become clear. Services may vary throughout the day and so passengers are urged to check before they travel to see how Tube services are operating and which alternative services are available via www.tfl.gov.uk.
Mike Brown, Managing Director of London Underground and London Rail said: “We will be doing everything we can to get as many Tube services as possible operating throughout Sunday evening and Monday, and to keep Londoners on the move with extra buses, river services, and other alternatives. Londoners will face some disruption, but we intend to run services on nearly all Tube lines, meaning that people will be able to get around."
