A Helping Hand With Fostering In Merton

New website is launched

A new website is making it easier for prospective carers to get information about fostering for Merton.

The site will include a quick eligibility test so prospective carers can quickly see if they have the skills to apply.

It should also make it much easier for people interested in fostering to see what is involved in the application process and what it is really like to foster. Merton's existing carers also have their own pages, which will be full of information to help them in their fostering role.

As part of the launch, Merton's fostering team will be out and about in the borough engaging with local people to spread the word.

Merton's cabinet member for children's services, Councillor Maxi Martin said: "The new fostering website will be the first point of call for any prospective Merton foster carers. Its user friendly interface and information will make it easier for residents who want to take the first step towards being a foster carer and I urge people to consider whether they could take that step and foster a local child."
