The winners at this year's Merton Best Business Awards

Merton Chamber of Commerce held its annual awards earlier this month at the All England Lawn Tennis Club.

Now in its tenth year, the awards are an opportunity for the Merton business community to get together and be rewarded in categories such as Champions of Change, Independent Business Award, Sustainable Impact and Best New Business.

The Merton Best Business Awards are designed to recognise businesses that have not only survived the events of the past year, but have shown resilience, excellence, innovation and best practice in the borough. The chamber says that a range of new categories and an easy application process attracted a high number of applications.

It was a night full of celebrations for leaders in manufacturing bespoke mascots, Rainbow Productions, who came away with category awards for ‘Best in the Creative Sector’ and ‘Large Independent Business Award’ and then crowned Best Business in Merton. The judges were impressed by their ability to bring joy daily to thousands of people – bringing a continued commitment to using locally trained Merton performers.

Among the other winners was Sean McInnes Sports Coaching which bagged the Independent Business Award as well as the runner up spot in the Best Customer Service Award. Charity of the Year went to the Dons Local Action Group with Sustainable Merton in second place and Polka Theatre won the Sustainable Impact Award.

Diana Sterck, CEO of Merton Chamber of Commerce, organisers of the Merton Best Business Awards, commented, “We were delighted to host such a wonderful evening for our local businesses. Many congratulations to all the winners and to everyone that made it to the finals; and huge thanks to our sponsors and partners for their support.”

Articles such as the one above are integral to what we do. We aim to feature as much as possible on local societies, charities based in the area, fundraising efforts by residents, community-based initiatives and even helping people find missing pets.
